We Can Break Rules

 photo BeFunky_g12jpg_zpsf2ed5b2b.jpg

I'm always fond of earth tones. They are good neutralizers, making it easy to match them with other colors. Mix them with vibrant colors and you'll get the instant pop without looking over-the-top. You can choose darker hues or play with its color wheel and never look boring. Think about army green, coyote brown or caramel - play it right and you'll look interesting and mysterious for me.

This is what I wore during the recent Supersale bazaar where I sported a rock/military chic look. I ignored the camou especially its loose-fitting jacket because I could just find them everywhere. I love trends but sometimes, I feel sick to wear what everyone's already wearing. Can you relate to me if I say that there are times when I succumb to passing fads but only wear them when they're not in anymore?! Another thing, even though I find it sexy for some people to wear jackets longer than their shorts, I might not probably enjoy such look on myself.

This bomber jacket is the second military jacket I bought in a thrift shop. You can read my outfit post wearing the first one here. It was my sister who first introduced me to thrift shops but I was not enthusiastic about it. It was my two friends in college who made me eventually want and yes, love thrift shopping. Anyway, I found this jacket after taking a second look around the shop. (Meant for me to buy!! :)) We were already leaving when my friend almost passed out. She hadn't taken lot of liquids, making the heat more unbearable for her. Fortunately, the people who manage the shop are not only kind in giving discounts, they're also helpful and caring.

To glam it up but still attain a dark rock/military look, I thought about finishing it off with gold metallic shorts and bronze sneaker wedges. I first saw these gold metallic shorts on Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad and I really said that I want one. The shorts looks so sporty and stylish, I can even wear them with crisp white shirt.

While writing this post, I realized that I have to thank her for my entire outfit post.(yes, the one I mentioned before) She was with me when I purchased these shorts in Riot and we would not be in that boutique if it wasn't for her. We were to get our nurse licenses but the computer lost her data and we had to wait for hours before she could get hers. To kill time, we went to a nearby mall and visit Riot (one of our favorite shops) and viola - I got my shorts! Also, she's the one who told me to visit the department store for wedge sneakers. It's funny how her mishaps lead me to these fabulous finds.

Blade and Shimmer

 photo BeFunky_DSC01030jpg_zpsd66ce79e.jpg
How do you like my edgy hipster look? It's like I'm going for skateboarding (if only I knew how :D ). I didn't think too much about what to mix and match but I'm glad I was able to pull it off. I guess it's just that I'm more comfortable when sporting such look. Actually, black Lita shoes or boots will look perfect but to make it different, I opted for these sequined shoes. I love how fashion becomes my playground and pairing the opposites has always been my favorite game.

I also call it the style junkie because everything I wore in these shots are cheap thrills. The top is thrifted while the shoes are from Divisoria. I used to go there during my college years. It's always a crowded place esp. during weekends but it's worth to venture if you're looking for fashionable cheap stuff. It's also my DIY haven. :DD photo BeFunky_DSC01038jpg_zpsd262aa7c.jpg photo BeFunky_DSC01034jpg_zpscc08202d.jpg
I used to know beanies only when it's cold but things have changed a lot. For some people, beanies are their final accessory after donning summer shorts and tank tops. It also now reminds me of Harry Styles. Haha.

I love this textured body-con skirt from F21. Anything with texture tends to catch my attention. photo BeFunky_DSC01022jpg_zps9e39c858.jpg

Military Hues

photo BeFunky_G612jpg_zps40fddd26.jpg My style has always been evolving but despite the wardrobe transition, my fondness for edgy pieces has always been the same. My diy and outfit posts can attest that degree of enthusiasm. Having an edgy style has also been a way for me to portray a tough persona. I always wanted to look tough and flash a cunning smile and without dressing up like one, I look more fragile and sensitive than I can actually be.

As much I wanted to look tough, I could never excuse myself for being vulnerable. These past few days hadn't been easier for me, the reason for my short-lived hiatus. I had to rest and take a break from my rut which also includes using my laptop because I wasn't feeling any better. I had fever that wouldn't subside for almost five days, not without medical help. I was confined in the hospital for another four days and I had to keep my heplock at home to complete my 1-week antibiotic treatment. It was only this morning that I had it finally removed. That is the longest time I had needle in my hand as much as I could remember. To those who asked how I'm feeling, I feel great now, recuperating.

photo BeFunky_G4jpg_zps5eaf127f.jpg Other than studs and spikes, military-inspired items are also part of my edgy collection. I just love earthy tones; they aren't boring but are great neutralizers. It's so much fun to play with these colors as you can match them up with bright or dark hues. You can never go wrong by opting military green with leather or soft delicate pieces. Plus, you can get over your style rut as they are ideal for street wear. photo BeFunky_G81jpg_zpscdae97cf.jpg photo BeFunky_G12jpg_zpsc24419fb.jpg The best part about thrift shopping is when you find something that you won't easily find in stores and even if you find one, you won't still buy it because the price isn't reasonable. I bought this denim blazer for less than 150php and that already makes me lucky. photo BeFunky_G10jpg_zps406df120.jpg
photo BeFunky_G91jpg_zps6460543a.jpg photo BeFunky_G51jpg_zps75672eef.jpg I don't usually succumb into fashion trends. For me, it's always wiser to spend money on basics and classics than those on trends that won't last. But of course, there is always an exception like this pair of hidden wedges. They're not only stylish but also comfortable, making wedges suitable for long walks. I have seen a lot of women on fashion blogs and streets sporting these sneakers. I just hope that these shoes won't be one of the things that I have to avoid a few months from now. photo BeFunky_BeFunky_G7jpg_zps7188a331.jpg What I wore: Ann Taylor Loft shirt| Cotton On shorts| thrifted military jacket| S&H wedge sneakers| Photos (c) Adly Velasco

Growling Lion and DIY Madness

Even before I discovered my intense like for fashion and started blogging, I already knew in myself that I muster enthusiasm for DIYs. I'm not pretty sure how and when it started but I assumed hanging around in my neighbor's dress shop had also influenced me. I could thread beads and make bracelets better than I could play street games during my preschool age. My passion for DIYs continue to ignite and I never feel more inspired everytime I visit my favorite DIY haven and explore fashion blogs.

Hope you'll enjoy this DIY/outfit post. Btw, you can view my DIY archieve here.

photo 64b9af69-61d4-4679-9456-70c50078d047_zps99007834.jpg This DIY tutorial is very simple and you only need few materials such as silver beads in different sizes, spikes, needle & thread and scissors. Rummage through your closet and look for an old jacket to revamp.

Insert the spikes.
